TESCO has triggered a school uniform price war - by vowing to kit out kids for £3.75. Polo shirts will cost just 50p in the summer-long deal for three to 16-year-olds. The bill ... bargain uniforms. The offer was announced yesterday - a day after we revealed rival Asda was launching a £4.75 school range.

Both Tesco and Asda have a flat price for all ages - bucking the trend of increasing prices for older kids. But unlike Asda, Tesco will sell items individually.Tesco clothes boss Terry Green said: "We've worked hard to give parents this price for a great school uniform."

Retail analyst Maureen Hinton said: "Profit margins are going to be thin.".......No surprise there....Is this strategy going to work? Has anyone seen the product? Quality? I would be interested to hear....
